It is painful, almost like giving birth. If they do the vacuum then you will bleed and have really bad cramps for a couple days, they tell you not to do anything but rest for a couple days afterwards. The worst part I think is going into the clinic cause they usually have pro-testers outside putting you down and yelling at you on the way in. I would suggest though if your not up to pain and do not want to keep the baby, maybe you should think about adoption. I have done this and it was wonderful. I got to meet and pick the family that adopted my baby and they pay all your medical and if you are unable to work, they pay your bills every month. Then they fly you to Hawaii to have the baby or you can stay home and they will come to you, either way its a wonderful experience and you have a huge support group the whole time. They even give you money after the baby is born for about three months to get back on your feet.

Abortion is legal at the federal level in the U.S. (Roe v. Wade), however it may be illegal or severely restricted on a state-by-state basis. The best way to find out if it is legal where YOU are is to look in your phone book for a Planned Parenthood clinic and call them to ask. They can also tell you everything you need to know about what an abortion is like -- what happens, how much pain or discomfort to expect, etc. They're good people -- give them a call.

Abortion is legal in the USA! I have never had an abortion but I did drive a girl to an abortion clinic to get one and she was up and walking around right after. She did not seem to be in too much pain. She was right back to normal the next day!

Abortion is not illegal in the United States. Roe v Wade made it explicitly legal.

I've never been through it, so I can't say what it feels like.

There shouldn't be too much physical pain, though; they do anesthetize you during the procedure.

Abortion is legal in most states, Roe v Wade helped make it so.
Check in your own state what the status is. Planned Parenthood is a good resource, since they can help with abortions.
The pain of an abortion depends how pregnant you are.
Personally, I had some cramping & zero bleeding @ 40 days.

Abortion is legal. I don't know what it feels like to have an abortion, but I know how women are after an abortion. Guilt is a terrible thing. Make sure this is what you want to do, and realize what it is you are doing, and make sure you can live with yourself afterwards. This will be something you won't ever forget.

if you're very early on in your pregnancy, you can get the abortion pill (less than 56 days i think). it forces your body to have a miscarriage. it's somewhat painful for a few hours, but bareable. it can take a few days for your body to end the pregnancy, but it's a more natural way than the surgical way. i hear it's much less painful than the surgery. you experience discomfort for a few days and then it's over. you can read about it online. good luck.

It hurts. I had one when I was 18yrs old. I do not regret having it because I didn't want a baby at the time and I could not live knowing I gave up a baby for adoption I would have thought about how it was doing.
