Ion as in the green lantern after he turning into Ion, in case you didn't know

Beyonder. Ion is great, but he is still a mortal and can only do what his enhanced mental capabilities can provide. The Beyonder is a cosmic entity.

However, Doom did essentially defeat the Beyonder only to be defeated by his own inadequasies. But I think a one on one grudge fest would result with the beyonder the victor.

This might be a stretch, but going by the Marvel canon,. the death of the Beyonder supposedly caused the White Event, that gave powers to everybody in the Marvel Comics' New Universe. One of these was the guy known as Star Brand. At the end of his series, when he destroyed himself, a tiny remnant of the power remained, and they showed it being transferred to a guy named Rivers (as in Hal Jordan, like the Jordan river.)

So, the death of the Beyonder gave power to all the heros in the new Universe, of whom the Star Brand was only the most powerful one, and only a tiny fraction of his power was left to be transferred to the last guy (who, they showed, was like Green Lantern).

So I think that is Marvel's way of saying that the Beyonder was much, much more powerful than Green Lantern. I'm inclined to agree.
