When I say leaders I mean the polictical leaders lieing to their public and duping them into war. I mean elected officials doing really bad things to their people and going up for election again and being re elected. is that stupid and can anyone explain how is allowed . We in the west are supposed to have democracies but when someone is wrong than nothing is done about it.

Unfortunately most people are really stupid and politicians and similar know this. It is easy to take advantage. Ask any con man.

Follow my leader has been popular ever since Noah led the animals into the Ark two by two (It must have been some size)
but my real answer is that most people don't regard themselves as stupid and since only someone as stupid as me could be bothered to lodge an answer to such a stupid question gives you your answer. However Elephants are very intelligent because of all the fruit they eat (Oranges and grapes) but unlike you they're not a barrel of laughs.

When you say, "people... allow their leaders to use them", do you mean to say that the leaders are evil and manipulative, thereby using followers to achieve their own selfish target e.g. terrorism? In this situation, I would not think that people are stupid at all, just that they are cut off from information which educates them. However, if you are referring to leaders like politicians or work bosses and even project group leaders, then followers are not being stupid to follow, they are just being lazy or they find that it is in their best interests to cooperate.

There will always be a hierarchy, where a person or people will dominate others.......I would say circumstance and luck play a part in this....some people lead and others will follow, its in our nature. If we allow ourselves to be used, as you say, i dont think that makes people stupid, sometimes we dont have a choice but be lead by others "above" us.

it's not that people are stupid, it's just that they are so busy living their lives that they either don't have time or don't want to be bothered by the world at large.

it's not about being stupid..i guess some people are treated violently that they tend to follow and that they are force to do some things they don't want to do..
