I'm going in for a scan tomorrow and I'll be 18 weeks. The scan is to see if the baby has any deformities, and a cleft palete. I'm hopeing if I ask them they might be able to tell me if it's a boy girl.

Sometimes at this stage they can tell. However, sometimes depending on the position of the baby they can't tell until later or in some circumstances not until they deliver. I have even heard some doctors nowadays don't even tell you what you are having because if they are wrong they are afraid of being sued.

I have two boys...I found out when I was about 14 weeks, they were able to show me body parts and all...both of my children, ages 7 and 5 were concieved before the 3D technology that is now so popular. My friend got a 3D ultrasound with her baby and I was amazed at how clear it was.

While the only definite way to tell what the sex of your new baby is through delivery, they could probably give you an educated guess, so long as the baby isn't turned the wrong way or anything. I would think with them going in to find deformities or the cleft they would be able to stop in the southern region to give a new mommy an answer as to wether she's having a girl or a boy.

Either way, the best and most important thing is that your baby is born healthy, irregardless if she is a she or a he, lol....best of luck with your pregnancy and delivery...and CONGRATS!!

I think i was 20 weeks when i found out i was having a girl. Alot of times they have to be turned right for them to tell. I wanted to know as soon as possible so i could start buying clothes. I was so happy it was a girl being able to buy all thoses cute little dresses.

The closer you are to 24 weeks, the easier it is to tell. . . it is very difficult to tell at 18 weeks.
