I recommend Maybelline Everfresh. I just love it and it stays put all day even in the worst humid condtions where makeup tends to sweat off. it is gentle on face as well. It is well worth the $6-8 it cost.

This might sound really basic but if your skin is a tad oily then unfortunately your make-up will simply slide off. Make sure your face is well cleansed, toned and moisturised and wait at least 20 minutes to allow your moisturiser to sink in before applying foundation.
When choosing your foundation, opt for one that is oil-free and longer lasting.
Apply a light dusting of translucent powder to your face, concentrating on those oily areas like your forehead, nose and chin. This will help your foundation set and give the rest of your make-up something to grab onto.
Before you apply your eyeshadow, apply a little foundation and powder to your lids for a longer lasting finish. Bear in mind that powder shadows tend to last longer than creams. If you wear eyeliner, a liquid formula will be harder wearing than a kohl pencil. However it can be trickier to apply and will take some practice.
For mascara that goes the distance you’ll need that trusty translucent powder again. Between coats, apply a light dusting of powder and use a lash comb to separate them before applying the second coat. It will last longer but will also require some extra elbow grease to remove!
To avoid disappearing cheek colour, invest in a cheek tint. These tend to be pricier and there aren’t as many to choose from so if you stick with powder then boost its staying power by applying over foundation.
If you’re a gloss girl [or woman] then keeping your lips lusher for longer is a problem. Because of the naturally moisturising consistency of a gloss, it’s near impossible to make it stay. If you aren’t a fan of lipstick then invest in a thicker gloss that will last longer.

What kind of makeup are you talking about?
If it's foundation, the way to make it last is after you apply it, let it rest on your face for a few minutes while you do your eyes or something else. Then apply powder and it doesn't matter if it's lose or compressed. The powder sets the foundation.
If you are talking about eye shadow, use powder instead of creams. Put a very tiny amount of petroleum jelly on your lids to hold the powder eye shadow in place. If you get a lot of creasing in the eyelid fold, you used to much petroleum jelly.

Double Wear foundation by Estee Lauder. This stuff absoulutely does not budge, it's on for at least 6-8 hours. A little goes a long way, and be sure you don't forget to moisturize before applying.
Have a salesperson color match you, and ask to take home a sample so you can see how you really like it in all types of light.

Bare Minerals for foundation and blush, Mac or Lancôme for eyes (if you apply them wet, they last even longer!), Mac liquid eyeliner won't move even if it's really hot! Mascara: Kanebo 38° which is removed with warm water and doesn't smudge at all. For lips use a lipstain; lots of brands do them: benefit benetint, nivea (famous drug store brand here in Europe, don't know if you have nivea in the usa though), philosophy, stila,model co.,...

Bare Essenctuals foundation powder {my mom loves it}
Maybelline or MAC liquid liner {swear by it}
Bare Essenctuals Blush
Clinique High Impact Mascara
NYC lipgloss {you will have to reapply}
Basically use Bare Essenctuals for bronzers, blushes and face type things and use MAC or Maybelline or Clinique for the eyes

Try a Mary Kay Full Coverage foundation! And MK Eye Primer keeps all eye makeup on! And MK Lip Primer keeps all lipstick on! The key is not to have makeup that claims to last all day, but to have products under your makeup that will keep it on! Check out my website for more info!
