Maybe its because she feel insecure. Are you adding to this? Singles can get therapy just like married people try it if you want the relationship to work. There is always some underlying reason or problem that she is having a hard time to get across to you.

Maybe she sees something in you that reminds her of herself.
Perhaps you can take on the challenge of finding out what makes your relationship so tense -- I'm sure if you both honestly address what's really between you two, you both may learn alot about yourselves.
