Get an Apple Macintosh, by far the best computer system available.
Depending on your needs, there are different models available, from the macbook (basic laptop) to the muiti processor desktop G5's.
The price points are a little higher than your mid level PC equivalent but you get much better quality and if you stay in OSX mode of the Intel Macs unparalleled virus protection.

I think it depends on your objective. If you want better quality and support then it is hard to beat Dell. If you are looking for the best bang for the buck the best deals are usually found on HP / Compaq products at the office/electronic/big box type retail stores.
Also, for the best value, stay away from the highest performance. Unless you are a serious gamer, just about anything on the market will perform well for you.

Dell!! You can configure the computer for the type of use you will give it. I have bought 4 desktops and 1 laptop over the last 5 years. They are great!

There has been some consolidation.... Gateway and e-machines are the same company now. Look for good processors more than anything. Buy the computer based on what you are going to use it for. Celeron processors are perfectly good for most uses, but if you're going to do heavy graphics or massive databases, you may want to pay more. If it's ajust a homework computer, low end is generally fine.

MDG is fine. Please stay away from Dell. The return policy is horrible and customer service is even worse.
Consider Lenovo (the new IBM.) I just sold a client a notebook computer for 773.00 fully loaded. Their desktops run around 700 for a good one.
Check www.techdata.com or cdw.com
Good luck.

nicely, its all all the way down to non-public determination. If I say i like HP, somebody else will come alongside and say "Ugh, no way mate, they are rubish whilst in comparison with Dell..." etc etc! What you may desire to look at is the cost distinction and what you get for the final fee. attempt and get some sturdy coverage and warrenty. A lof of human beings are actually paying for custom made computers, allthough they are extra high priced, they combat to final longer. My pc is 3 years previous and alter into custom geared up and is stil going like the clappers. My spouse's pc is almost 5 years previous and likewise replace into custom geared up and that too is a competent gadget. suitable now, i individually want ASUS or HP. Toshiba for Laptops (with exception to the ASUS EEE computers)

You seem to know what you already want. Follow your heart. Just take good care of the computer you will have and it would last a lifetime.
