How about an Albert Pujols 2001 Upper Deck Rookie Card(beckett value $40). It would be good to get a rookie of him before they get too high in value.

Felix Hernandez or Fransisco Liriano rookie cards. They still have a bunch of room to grow, the Pujols is a great card, but the market for a card shrinks the higher the "value" gets.

Chipper Jones rookie card would be a good start as he will most likely be in the hall of fame. There are different brands like Topps and upperdeck but i bet you could get both of those rookie cards for 50 dollars.

I would start with buying a box of current year Topps brand. Then I would trade or collect a certain team.
