This is a very important question that I need an answer to asap. I have been researching myself and cant seem to find the right place. I need the law, if there is one, to keep an employer from discharging or disciplining an employee due to an illness that causes them to be absent from work.

You may have better luck under federal law. The Family medical leave act. Of course you have to have been with your employer for at least a year, and they have to employ at least 50 employees within a 75 mile radius, you have to have worked at least 1250 hours within the past year. If you qualify, you can take up to 12 weeks a year without any form of reprimand, or loss of benefits. IT is administered by the Department of Labor. my State has no right to work laws, with the exception of workers compensation.

check out the AFL-CIO website... if you're going to find anything, it would most likely be there.
