Song sung by Lynn Anderson. My guess that if you read this song without listening to the music, you will have a poem! This is also the name of a very good book about a young girl who is drastically mentally ill. Good ending; not a happy ending, but good.

No, its a song written by Joe South and Lynn Anderson had the hit recording of it. South was one of the most prolfic songwriters of the late 1960's....wrote songs such as "The Games People Play" "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" and many others. Like many others of that period, he was from the South - Atlanta area, if I recall correctly.
