"... important of Math in life" dude, you are aware that math is the one constant throughout the entire universe, right? 1+1=2 no matter where you are. Same goes for the most complex mathematical equations... I'd say that in itself constitutes some degree of importance in life. Go to any science or astronomy website and you'll find something there saying generically the same thing.

There are so many examples throughout history. Just think about it, if it weren't for math, the Roman Colleseum wouldn't be standing. They used math everywhere to build absolutely amazing structures that are still standing to this day!

If it weren't for math, we would have never made it to the moon or been able to explore outerspace and our oceans. And there would be no such things as iPods, TV, CD and DVD players, because all of those are based on mathematical principles and calculations.

And if you just look at the news, you see math everywhere. Look at Google and Microsoft. How much as their stock risen percentage-wise since their inception? Now imagine you got in on the ground floor. How rich would you be now?

And what about all those surveys and statistical data being reported. For example, I saw one headline that said nearly 1 in 5 people are alcoholics or have a family member with a drinking problem. Anyone find this alarming or shocking?

What about Boston's big dig disaster? How much money was spent to build it? Weight that against the fact that it will take nearly as much, if not more to fix it.

Point is, math is all around us. Just look at a major newspaper and you'll find tons of articles with topics ranging from algebra to percents to decimals to fractions, and on and on.
