Why do you think that we are here as humans? Why do you think our souls picked these lives? (This question is for people who are spiritual, I dont want a bunch of Heaven Hell stuff as an answer...thanks) So anyway...Why do you think we are here too....If we are truly the one's who picked this life...why do you think we are learning this way?

For the one that posted this question life is about dealing with some of these kinds of people....

I can't give you a solid answer but this moment now is a learning experience and evolution of something greater and something spiritual. We go through all this negative stuff and at the end we realize how good happiness feels and what love really is. We embrace all the positive things better after we've tasted the dark. We came here with no memory, no power and no clue of anything and we have to turn on the lights and find our way up and out. All I can say for sure is that there's purpose to this illusion.

There was a saying I suppose, "You will become what you think" or so... ! No need to believe or accept this saying, if we look at our lives, we see that we assume the attitude , style, and other aspects when we are intensely involved in a particular type of personality(children easily catch the hero-worship-styles).
It is the unfulfilled desires, that 'guides' our souls to pick up a suitable 'body', location, situation thinking that we can fulfil these desires. Having come, we further accumulate more desires, and come back again. This goes on till the being slowly realises the game , its futility, and then turns inward. Spirituality dawns ... Then the effort is towards dissolution of the gross desires, and then the self. It is lack of clarity that sometimes we end up in wrong situations, places etc. For instance, a person intensely desires lots of cash around him instead of wealth and prosperity (consciously understanding the term), he may end up as a bank cashier, indeed surrounded by really lots of cash, but ends up with a renewed thrust of a new set of desires, for the next time !
There is a rich source of traditional information regarding these in Indian way of life .

The question is what do I think, not what IS, so here is my opinion:

Whatever you have chosen for this life, you certainly have NOT lived it before. You set this life up for yourself to be something you have never experienced, no matter how happy or miserable the experience may be.

So we are here to suck the earth dry of as many experiences we can get from it before moving on. Unfortunatly for us, our souls see suffering as a good thing! We really don't learn much from happy materialistic lives, but that in itself is an experience all souls will eventually try.

Natural selection. I don't think that our souls pick these lives. I think our souls are placed into a body and then create the life through experiences.
We are confronted with challenges that will kill us or make us stronger. We are placed in the tutelage of others who have been here longer. If we do not learn what they teach, we will become extinct.

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste,
and remember what peace there may in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be
greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career
however humble;
it is a real possession in the
changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you
to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit
to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham,
drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Life is the time allowed for our spirit to grow. Body is the dwelling place. World provides situations that your spirit to pass through. The most stringent situations, you have better opportunities. A perfect spirit is irrevocably good. I mean it cannot go back to its bad natures.

The purpose of a perfect spirit? Just think if you can get a perfectly righteous man in this world today. So the creator must have a similar aim.

We are not physical beings on a spiritual journey....but we are spiritual beings on a physical journey. We are here to accomplish some goal, whether it is known or unknown to our physical mind. The answer to the question "Why?" can only be answered by the Great Spirit or God that allows us to be.

Certainly you will get answers that refer you to the bible or another book from another religion, but these books won't answer your question directly either. All you can truely do is allow life to unfold before you, and do what you believe to be right.

We are just finishing what we started. Also the fact my be that living forever isn't all its cracked up to be. And so when we got the chance to be supped and be here we jump at that chances. I would like to state that I'm a christian! Not all of us are supped and close minded. Christianity is a way for some one that thinks to get answers, and be happy and at peace. You know these Christians are happier then you are. So don't put us down for using the drug that is religion.

I think we cant choose to be human, the buddhist believe you can be re-incarnated as any living thing. and thats a good belief, but i think we are humans, and we choose our lives, its called a life chart, and we choose all the events of our lives. we choose our parents, where we grow up, how much we weigh. I think we're here to learn things we havent learned in past lives, to learn about regret, love, forgiveness, paitence, respect, all of that and more. to learn to be self actualized ( like maslow) we learn this way because its a universal understanding that we can learn things from one another. your greatest enemy has the most to teach you, ya know, the surroundings, and life events have to teach you something.

out of curiousity... what makes you think that our souls picked this life? They could have been appointed.. ? I do not know why we are here or what our purpose is. Unfortunately, you will not know until your physical existence has come to its' end. Although if you knew that, would you want to wait until the end of your physical existence? If you knew that, it may be too hard to come back to this world?
