I live Mississauga, which is far west of Toronto, Canada. The city is considered to be the most multicultural city out there, and more children born out of Toronto are from mixed couples. Eventually the whole city might be filled with "Mixies". "Mixies" is a new term I came up with.

Mixed couples? I am a white conservative, but I still don't think "race" matters. My theory is that we should mix it up and fast. That way in a couple hundred years, the "race" thing will be no longer an issue. Lately some social theorists are saying that race is just another social construct. I don't go that far. There are some identifiable differences between races besides skin color. That's a can of worms I won't go into here. It's very politically charged and difficult to discuss. My point is that genetic diversity is a good thing. It's true for all living things.

Mixies what an awful word - and mixed in what way? do you mean skin colour, cultural identity, ethnicity etc we are all a mixture of different cultures, races etc. I am part Welsh, English and Irish but from way back, my son has Spanish, Maltese, Welsh and Mauritian heritage but would call himself Welsh. I think the idea of children born out of any loving realationship to be valuable to a society.

I think it's fabulous. The mixed generation are probably more accepting, open minded and tolerant than any race. Being mixed helps them adapt easily to a foreign country because they have a higher understanding of diverse cultures. Make way, they are the new global citizens.

They are children regardless of what race, ethnic group, religion, culture and so on. They deserve the same respect that everyone else deserves. I have a niece and nephew who are interracial...not your so called term "mixes". They are two of the most wonderful kids you would ever meet. So lets try to stop all the labeling and stereotyping....
