The boys are also the same age so the chance of getting any disease is very very low.

I had sex and had a gyno exam and the gyno exam was way more traumatizing than the sex.

You probably should, but as long as you use a condom I wouldn't be too worried. 10-11 is a bit young to start being sexually active though. I started at 12 and wish I'd have waited. Just be careful hun.

YES. You can catch STD's at any age... and chances are good that you could get pregnant too, which is VERY bad for someone that young. That exam would be NO MORE traumatizing than sex. To say that a girl that young can have sex, but that a gyn exam would be too traumatic is ridiculous.
The exam would be less traumatic than having an STD that could prevent you from ever having children of your own, disfiguring her or even killing you! And remember, condoms don't always protect you from everything, especially if you engage in sexual activity beyond normal intercourse.

Yes, it would be VERY advisable for a number of reasons.
Due to the fact that she might not be fully developed, she might get hurt during sex.
She needs someone to talk seriously to her about the consequences of STDS and pregnancy. Pregnancy at such young age can be life treathening. It's imperative to know for sure if she's caught any diseases or is actually pregnant.
Let's not forget that even if she wanted to have sex, she is not mentally or legally mature to consent. So someone might be taking advantage of her innocence. She needs to be advised to stop seeing that person inmediately. It he is at least 5 years older than her, she should report him as well.
Finally, in which way would you think that a gyn exam is more traumatizing that actual sex at age 11?
Doctors are trained to use special equipment or even nothing in order to avoid pain, shame and whatever concern she might have.
Any sexually active woman is old enough to understand how important is for her to do her annual check up and take care of her health responsibly.

If your friend is having sex at 10 or 11 years old then she needs to have a gyn exam. It would not be too tramatic for her is she is already having sex. Also the boy needs to be checked for STDs as well. If he is having sex with her, then he is or has most likely had sex with others and needs to be checked.
Sex should not be a part of a 10-11 year old's life. That is way too young.

Oh, honey! If you are only 11 years old and already having sex not only do you need an gyn exam but a mental health exam. Take your parents along with you so they can explain why their child is sexually active at such an early age. If you are already having your period then you can get pregnant, although such a young and undeveloped body carrying a baby would be extremely dangerous. You are not mentally ready for the responsibility that comes with sex. Find a hobby.

YES!! 10-11 years old is pretty young to be having sex, but if she already has had sex, the gyn exam wouldnt be traumatizing at all. I think also you need to be aware of emotional issues that may be haunting her because I've never heard of some little girl that age having sex.

Okay here we have a problem,10? Your momma need to spank your(friends) behind good old fashioned way. No Disease? are you kidding me if he screwing you then he screwing somebody else and you would be sleeping with who knows how many people? When mess around with one person you are messing around with everyone he has slept with and the ones before that. Yes you need see an OB soon as you become active to ensure all is well down there. Please do not think you can not attract a STD @10. What would be your response if after your exam the doc said Mam you have herpes? That is a life long carrying disease. Keep them closed until the night of your wedding.
In the meantime tell your (friend) to go see the OBGYN.

10-11 year olds need it more than older females would when they are sexually active. More traumatizing would be to have a baby at that age. It would traumatize the parent also.

Yes - anyone who is sexually active should be monitored by a gynecologist. Too traumatic?? Sex at that age is traumatizing, getting guidance and care and good info from a caring doctor will only help the situation. Who is supervising this kid anyway??

Having sex would be more traumatizing. If a girl is 10 or 11 she should be out playing with her friends, not having sex. If the parent knows she's doing it, they need to be locked up. The guy doing it should be locked up too.
