Did you know that Michael Jackson has given more money to black colleges and universities than anyone in history?

That's something the media should be talking about.

There are probably a number of reasons why the media follows Michael.
First, he has been extremely successful, and popular. There are still a lot of fans for him out there. That is no surprise, because he dominated the music industry for a long time, and he was a remarkable, talented performer. And many of his fans still care about him as a person.
Second, the media knows what will sell. The media will run stories on anything and anyone as long as people will read it. They may not care about Michael, but they do care about getting you to watch their programs or read their articles.
Third, there are always mean-spirited people in the media. These are the ones who go around trying to stir up rumors about people just because they do not like some actor or singer. Michael's troubles make him a fertile target for this type of trashy media. And as long as people read this, the hate merchants will keep digging up "stories" about him.
I do not read stories about Michael; I do not want anyone to try to tarnish the story of a man who was as great as he was. Even if he has done things that are questionable, that does not change the fact that he was the best in his day. And I remember that.

because the media always needs a new story about someone the public loves in order to sell papers or increase ratings. If you tear down someone who the public sees as "holy" or one that can do no wrong...such as MJ you can increase sales or ratings. Afterall everyone loves wathing a good trainwreck.

I figure its tant amount to going to a zoo to see the exotic new bird. It's such an oddity in nature that we must have some commentary on it.

I think they are just having a hard time not looking at that freakish face he has given himself! It's like a bad car accident, you just can't stop staring. Or a sore on your tongue, even though it hurts you keep biting it.
