If she was getting her period it would not be a speck of blood.
It does sound like she just has a urinary tract infection. I had one in college and when I went to the bathroom blood came out. It did hurt a little.
But if it was her first period it would be a lot more than a speck.

Some girls get urinary infections and they can act like this. Periods also act like this, sometimes it is brownish for a while before the red blood comes. Tell her to use sanitary napkins or liners for either so she won't get it on her clothes. This is normal but she needs to know that if she cramps too much or bleeds a lot that she may need to see the dr. If she pees yellowish/gold and it burns, then it may be an infection. You get low back cramps with both. Since she is so upset try to make it as normal as possible. Some urinary infections come after having sex or not cleaning yourself from front to back, from bubble bath or bath products. Remember to rinse well after bathing. I hoope I gave you some helpful info and that she gets more comfortable with what her body is going through. Why didn't her mom take her to the dr. to ck things out? That is what is bugging me the most. Thanks for being a great friend to her.

It's possible that she is getting ready to start. The same thing happened to me and shortly after that, I started.
If there is burning when she urinates or pain or if there is blood in the urine, then yeah, there is probably an infection
Tell your friend not to be overly anxious if she is. Having a period is no fun. It indicates womanhood, but periods are NO FUN.

well lets just say this...I was 10 when I got my period...the first time...and I got a spot of blood on my underwear...it was about that size at first...then later got bigger...or something like that...i don't remember...she maybe starting to go through the puberty stage. If she gets this every month with stomach aches (cramps) then she just got her period..nothing to worry about....no biggie...all women go through it. She'll survive. It only comes once a month for a week and then stops...then does on and on till she gets pregnant or menopause (happens when you get older-menopause I mean).

why dont her mom take her to the emergency if she thinks its an infection?
how old is your friend? my daughter was 9yr. when she got her first period. all girls are different. if she keeps bleeding the next few days then yes, its the period.
but dont understand her mom's reaction. if she knows its her period then she wouldnt be scared if its an infection.

Sorry, but your friends buisiness is not yours. Whether she has her period or and infection shouldn't matter to you unless it concerns your health. Maybe you should but out...
