NO ITS BEST NOT TO DO THIS SINCE THE TRANS WILL NOT LIKE THIS,WILL IN THE LONG RUN CAUSE TRANS PROBLEMS, ITS TO MUCH EFFORT FOR ANY SIGNIFICANT RESULTS, WHEN YOU GO INTO NEUTRAL THE TRANSMISSION WILL TAKE PRESSURE OFFTHE FRONT CLUTCHES IN THE FORWARD DRUM AND WHEN YOU REENGAGE IT IT MUST THEN BUILD UP MAIN LINE PRESSURE TO TAKE OFF AND ITS JUST EXTRA WORK FOR THE TRANSMISSION THAT IT DOES DO NEED SINCE IT WORKS VERY HARD ANY WAY AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS AR NOT MADE TO ROLE VERY FAST WITHOUT DAMAGING CLUTCHES WHEN ROLLING FREE CAUSE THEY ARE FREE WHEELING AND WAS NOT INTENDED TO DO THIS THIS IS WHY YOU CANNOT TOW A AUTOMATIC vEHICLE ,WITH THE DRIVE WHEELS ON THE GROUND CAUSE IT WILL BURN UP THE TRANS. BUT NOT RECOMMENDED BUT YOU WILL SAVE ZERO, GREAT QUESTION THO TAKE CARE

There's too many factors in 'this' equation to get a viable answer.
One thing, however, it will use a little more, not much, if you've just taken off with a 'cold' engine and don't shift to 'N', but it's not worth the time and trouble plus the wear and tear on your shifter and transmission.

well, that depends on the color of your car. If your car is one that is on the left side of the Color wheel, it wont. But if it is on the right side of the color wheel, it will. If it is on the top or bottom of the color wheel it dosent matter that it is automatic, so you might as well give up.
