Build a mound in the center of the stall and the smaller balls of manure will roll down the sides. Scrape them up every now and then. It does a mush better job then just 'picking' them out and doesn't waste as much bedding creating a smaller manure pile.

Well, l use regular shavings in my stalls... l clean them atleast 2 times a day depending on if the horse is kept inside or not... l may even pick them more, just depends on the amount of dirtied shavings. The best method l have found for picking a stall quickly and efficiently is to start from the middle.... get any VISIBLE wet spots and piles. Then, in a circular motion sweep the shavings out to the sides of the stall and then sift through them, then if needed add a bag of shavings or just even out the other shavings... l also recommend adding lime to wet spots after they have been picked it lowers the ammonia smell and bacteria.

The easiest way that I found is to pick it every day. I always stripped them down once a week and put in fresh shavings. When you pick them, make sure you get everything and don't leave any wet spots. Add shavings as needed, If you use the manure forks that are plastic they are easier to use. But the key to a quick and easy clean is to do it every day and do a good job when you do.

i like to use the "future fork" and wheel barrel. Try picking up the poop and the wet bedding twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Than at the end of the week you strip the stall clean of all bedding and poop and add new bedding.(If you are not on a budget i would buy mats to put under the bedding)

I have just recently started stalling my horses. This is the method I am using and its seems easy. I bought small pine wood chips and a rake looking pitch fork. Everyday I clean the manure out of their stalls, and once a week I clean ALL wood chips out and change them with fresh. I also have sand under my wood chips to help pull the moisture out of the chips and prevent thrush. I hope this helps!!

muscle power! lol...seriously, just making sure you get the wet sawdust or wood chips or straw (whatever you are using) out along with the manure. most horses will pee in certain areas of their stall only. find out which area it is so you are not wasting stall litter. in the area you remove the litter, then move the older stuff there and the newer litter to the cleaner area. rotating it makes sure you don't miss any.

you can buy rubber floor mats now for them in addition to bedding that soak up the smell, and once a week or so you take them out and hose them offf!!!! a lot easier than trying to clean cement with lime and junk!
