I think the male ones are faster, but die off fast. The females are the turtles (slow and steady...) So "they say" if you want a girl try to concieve early in the ovulation cycle because the sperm have longer to swim, and the male ones will start to die off before they get there. Where if you wait until later in the cycle, the egg will be closer to your uterus, and the male ones will get there faster. Keep in mind that your ovulation window is only about 3-4 days long so it is very hard to pinpoint. Good Luck... I hope you are happy either way!

A sperm for male has a Y chromosome while a sperm for female has a X chromosome. I'm not sure right now if there is a reliable way to increase your chance to get a certain sex. Although interestingly, there is slightly higher chance to get a boy than a girl. Worldwide, there are 105 boys born for every 100 girls born. It seems that the lighter Y chromosome helps the sperm swims faster. Of course most people find this explanantion unsatisfactory.

There is no such thing as male sperm and female sperm. In fact all sperm when fertilizing an egg have female characteristics. Sometime during the first three months of pregnancy a chromosome is introduced that produces a boy baby or a female baby.

There are several good books that deal with your question. One is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. I got it on Amazon. Girl sperms are more hardy that boy sperms. That's why if your guy wears a wet suit is a pilot it may be that only his girl sperms survive. If that's not an issue, it's about timing. To have a girl, you'll have to have sex 4-2 days before ovulation. For a boy, wait until the day of ovulation or the day before. To determine your time of ovulation, you'll need to chart your temperature and moniter your cervical fluid. For more details, try a book. There's probaby also be info online somewhere. Happy Trying!

I know it can be hard to tell. I hear reading your chinese birth chart is supposed to work, but again nothing is 100%.
Also I do know for a fact that sperm that have the female chromosome, last longer in the Uterus than sperm with a male chromosome.

You need to taste the specimen. The male carrying ejaculate has a sort of bitter taste. The female carrying ejaculate has more of a sour taste. They are similar, but very distinct. Taste your husbands sperm on frequent intervals over the course of the day and write down whether bitter or sour and the pattern that develops (1 bitter, 2 sour, 1 bitter, etc.) Once you have the pattern established, just pick the point in the pattern when your husbands sperm will be male/female depending on which you want.
Good luck!

a high school bio teacher once told us that girls were more likely to be born if you had sex a couple of days before ovulating. Apparently the Y(male)-sperm swim faster and burn themselves out sooner and the X(female)-survive longer.
She was a bit crazy though, so I'm not sure I'd trust that.
At best though, even if true, I doubt that it'd tip the balance more than a couple of percent.

An old wives tale is that sex standing up will produce more boys, as those sperm swim faster.

There is something called Microsort (not the Bill Gates corp.) that claims to be able to sort the Xs from the Ys. Then take the sorted sprem and use artificial insemination.

they say male sperm are weaker and faster and female sperm are slower but stronger.
I think it's mostly a theory though.
