Men are some of the most accomplished gossipers in the world. More important though is you and your own professional reputation and job security. In the mind of the employer, who has to make decisions of who should stay and who should leave, create an image for yourself that a reasonable employer will think of you as on the stay list - a worker, non-gossiper, mature and responsble, and one who benefits the organization.

Although you tend to hear more female snickering and gossiping, dont kid yourself, men do it too. I work at Mcdonalds and there are over 100 staff members, drama is constantly an issue. When you work somewhere for a long time or even a short time, you tend to be involved sometimes more with your work than with your personal life. This creates a bond between the two, which is why it sometimes gets mixed up. Your personal life and work life should be kept as seperate topics, but some people are busy bodies and don't know when enough is enough. Trust me, this happens too often in too many workplaces, so try not to let it get you down. Maybe the next time you hear a rumour or someone gossping change the subject, or let them know that person lives should try to stay OUT of the workplace, although it might not be efficient, youl'l get your point across eventually. :)

It relies upon what the gossip is about, and the way the tips is obtained. If the HR assistant or the boss gossips that someone only were given a develop, replaced addresses because they're getting divorced, or that someone took a unwell day to be certain in the adventure that they have maximum cancers, then certain, that is a breach of confidentiality and must be punishable by using firing. If an worker brags that a customer has a suddent develop in wealth, that tips may be used antagonistic to the customer in a criminal case - subsequently, business espionage. So there are countless situations the position letting small bits of tips slip may reason large complications, and those must be punished subsequently. yet when it is small issues, like Frank thinks Brad has the hots for Janet, or Cindy would not like Marsha and derides Marsha to Bob the Boss, then it is only recommend and unprofessional - yet no longer unlawful. The HR branch needs to communicate with the gossip and reprimand them, yet firing may be too severe.

Oh, men like their gossip. Don't believe them if they say differently. However, they are definitely not the hunters and gatherers when it comes to gossip. Women are.
We seek it out, we gather it, we spread it around. We want to know every detail, and we want to dissect every detail, preferably with a group of our favorite female friends.
Men are content to have it presented to them, via us preferably. However, they don't want all the details, or the endless discussion. Just give them the 'facts', and the outcome so far.
My experience is that they are interested in hearing the information, but they are not likely to discuss it.

Most people don't realize how detrimental gossip can be. The people who do gossip the most are very insecure and internally disatisfied with their own lives - hence the need to talk about others. Others just get sucked down to their level. Vicious circle.

Hmmm... I did think that is was a female thing too.
But now I work in office full of men... I think they are worse!! I can say this from working in places full of women to where I am now. I think it is due to much boredom and gossiping makes the day go much faster :)

Men gossip just as much, but it's far worse because guys won't accept any explanation for why someone says something.....they just want to believe what they hear. Women at least want proof and don't believe certain people because they are "those" kind of people. Women will make it obvious that they are talking about you....but men won't.......men act like they don't want to be in the middle or don't know anything when in fact they do but they just don't want to tell you because they don't want to hurt your feelings.

Disregard gossips because it will affect you too much. Concentrate on your work and do good things. A good name will never be damaged by gossips, it is reputation.
