1)Univision you... see the TV channels spending a lot, but they earn a lot more. There are two systems. According to one the airtime is sold to TV programmes and these programmes arrange for their profits through featuring ads between their serials as on Indian national channel (Doordarshan). The others directly earn through ads without the interference of the serials' makers

Ratings and then comercials pay for spots where people are watching the most. Look at neilson ratings. Certain people have their television wired to see what they are watching. Those families count on what is going to be on TV people have a choice of what is going to be on. You do not have to be a neilson family. Look into the rating systems and comercials.

In the U.S. they earn money by selling time for ads.

In other countries its different. In England, you buy a license for your TV. The fees from the license pays for the television channels.

It depends.

Commercial television gets its money from advertising.

Non-commercial television gets its money from viewers, perhaps by way of the cable company.

They sell advertising. Advertisers pay thousands of dollars to get their messages played on TV, they think its worth it to get the exposure. The more people watching, the more the station can charge. Its profitable, TV stations in big markets like New York or LA can sell for hundreds of millions of dollar$.

advertising advertising advertising!!! all those millions of commercials you see . . . the companies pay a lot of money to have their commercials aired this money goes to producing the programs you watch that will be interupted by the commercials that will make you want to buy the product that will help pay for the advertising, that will in turn pay for the programs you watch . . . and on and on and on

You know all of those commercials you see on T.V.? Selling advertising time on their network is how they pay the bills. (commercials can cost thousands- sometimes millions during certain air times)
