The "D" in your Pentium name says that you have the 64 bit compatible version. It is a 32-bit processor with 64-bit memory addressing and data bus (EM64T). But the core processor is still 32-bit (IA-32). You only get true 64-bit processing with the XEON (IA-64) processors. Yes confusing but that is the way Intel likes it.

Not sure if windows will tell you. The only sure way is to know what processor you have in your system. Intel Pentium4D (D=DualCore), AMD Athlon 64, AMD Athlon FX and I think some Opteron's are 64 bit processors. If your computer is older than 2 years or is a manufactured (dell, gateway, hp, etc...) then it is most likely a 32 bit processor.

Unless you have the documentation that came with your computer, or able to look up your computer specs from the manufacturer website (dell) then unfortunately this will require you to physically open your box, unhook the fan/heatsink and check the processor (you shouldnt need to pull the processor itself but will need to remove the fan/heatsink).

Not enough information provided.

Your operating system for one will be a good clue. If you run windows xp, there is a good chance you have a 64 bit processor.

Anything older is 32 bit.

If your computer is 2 years or older, probably 32 bit.

If it is newer then 2 years, 64 bit would be a big selling point on the computer.

Have you tried opening "Control Panel" and selecting "System"?

That should open a form called "System Properties" that includes processor information. I don't know about intel processors but if you have an Athlon 64 or 64 X2 it will list it there.

If you don't know it's probably 32. 64 is only purposely bought by mega nerds.
