So if I want to be a criminal justice major (in college of criminal justice) and wanted to minor in psychology (which is in the college of arts and sciences) I couldn't?

It depends on the school, so you'd have to check your college's handbook or ask your adviser or an admissions counselor. Most likely you could, but you'd need to apply to both schools individually and get into both. Your school may not let this happen for only a minor, so you may need to double major. The only way that it could be a problem would be if you went to a school like Cornell or Alfred were some colleges are state run (w/ state tuition) and others are private (with much higher tuition), but even then there would probably be a way to work it out.

That's absolutely false. You can do whatever you like, unless you have a full scholarship for one program, in which case you'd just have to pay for the psych courses. I knew a lot of people that chose those two topics for major/minor. Criminal justice and psychology have a lot in common. Everyone wants to be a profiler...

i don't see why not; i'm a history major while minoring in criminal justice.
