I would listen to what my boss had to say, and try to see if there was anything valid about my co-workers' complaints. Although my feelings would be hurt, it would be more important to create good relations with my boss and co-workers.

If the boss was gentle but firm, and fair, and wise, he/she is doing his/her job trying to mediate between co-workers who annoy each other.

I would ask the boss what are they complaining about. Is this a work related problem or is a personal problem. if it is work related, then do what you can to fix it. if it is personal, then you should let the boss know it is none of your coworkers business what you do on your own time. NEVER bring your personal life to work. DON"T talk about your personal life at work. Stay strictly buisness and no one shoulkd be complaining unless you are doing a poor job.

As long as I am doing my job I would not worry about it. If I was slacking I would knock it off and work harder. There's always going to be the gossipers at any job but bosses usually don't pay any mind to it unless there is some truth to what is being said.

Its probably true, but your boss is unable to address your performace problems directly, and instead is trying to pass your "blame" or anger onto your co-workers. It might be time to start looking for a new job because a) your boss is a pussy and b) there are obviously problems, but you can't fix them if you don't know what they are.

I would ask my boss what he said to the coworker and would hope that he referred them to approach me directly. Then I would let him know that I would open the discussion with that person directly and if he had any questions for me I'm open to more discussion.
It's stupid though for people to talk about other people behind their backs.

Well if I knew I was doing a good job, and doing my best all the time, I'd go to my co workers and tell them that they are all immature little kids. Or depending on the type of day I had, I would just burninate them all.

it maybe half way true..sometimes we act things okay to us but truth is if you try to analyze it it could hurt others feelings..talk to your boss what specifically the complain is all about..is it true? reflect if its true and work on it. if your sure its just all false accusations bcoz they are just envious of your achievements then tell your boss about it and prove to them they can't knock you down
