It drives me absolutely insane. First, flight 93, then the new one, World Trade Center. I will never see either one, because I have more respect for the victims than they (meaning the actors and writers of these movies) ever will. Does anyone else agree with me?

you forgot one, the discovery channel had a movie a few months before the flight 93 came out telling the same story. it was good. oh, and by the way, the discovery channel movie helped the funding of the memorial and similar charity I doubt the hollywood movies do much in that regard. they must have to do something charitable you'd think, so it would be harder to see them as cashing in on it ,which they are.
nicolas and oliver aren't getting my cash

It's not necesarily about the money. 9/11 was an important event in American history. Artists and film makers can be sensitive to the victims and their families--and still pay homage to those who lost and gave their lives that day. It's also a way for the nation to heal. Back in the 70s there were all kinds of Vietnam movies--were they disrespecting the vets and soldiers? No. They were showing people what was happening to those soldiers--the reality of war. It wasn't meant to be mean or dredge up bad memories. Vietnam was a very difficult time in our country's history--just as 9/11 and the aftermath are now. You also don't know if any of those film makers know anyone who died on 9/11. You don't know if any of them have talked to victim's families. I think that if movie makers were only interested in making money--then 9/11 movies would be more caricatures of DIe Hard and Rambo. That would make those movies money. I didn't see Flight 93 personally because it was too painful for me to see. However, I may see World Trade Center. I had a friend who is a fire fighter in FDNY. He talks a little about that day--not much, though. He siad that he was going to see that movie--because it was a tribute to his fellow firefighters who lost their lives--and he lost a lot of those friends that day. I think it depends on how the material is presented. If done respectfully, I don't have a problem with Hollywood documenting the history of our country in film--not in the least.

I completely disagree, Look at all the Iraqi sympathizers, all of the people that very quickly forget why we are over there fighting and what we are fighting for. I don't think the victims or they're families are upset that the forgetful are reminded. Also making the movies are a way of paying tribute to the victims. A lot of the proceeds did go to the families.

I dint see whats so bad about them. I think they showcase the hero's that was involved.I seen flight 93 and thought it was a great movie, and i would of been proud if one of my family members fought back they way those passengers did.To each their own. My biggest problem with the new one is Nick Cage, I hate him lol

Having respect has nothing to do with it. Americans always think they rate some extra courtesy that doesn't apply to the rest of the world.
We made movies about WWII while widows sat and watched them.
We made movies about Viet Nam and those movies were truthful, the WWII movies made the soldiers heroes, the Nam movies showed everything negative done. How do you think the vets and families of the dead felt watching those movies?
It is what it is. If nobody watched, they wouldn't be making the movies.

so we will never forget the sacrifices that were made on that terrible day...the families of those portrayed in those movies gave their permission for it to be made...the victims should not be forgotten...these movies make us remember things we sometimes find it easy to forget...
