He struggled at Newcastle but played well at Celtic. He scored nine goals for Celtic in the remainder of the season. His first goal for Celtic was in the cup against Clyde and scoring a superb goal against Aberdeen which won over the media on Scotsport and was revered by the fans and was part of a squad that went onto win the Scottish Cup, his only career trophy so far. Many Celtic fans wanted Bellamy to stay, as he was seen as the new Henrik Larsson.
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez subsequently stated that Bellamy "has the ability, the pace and the talent we've been looking for", and that he expected talks to go well, particularly as Bellamy is known to have supported Liverpool in his youth. He signed for the club on 23 June 2006 and officially became a Liverpool player on July 1, 2006.
Liverpool fans will be hoping he is proven correct.

Yes they must be mad if they have bought some player called Craig Bellmay!!!
Seriously...I don't know what they are thinking of, can't see any logic in it myself, his early career at Newcastle started well & looked promising but he let himself & the team down with his violence & disorderly conduct on and off the pitch. I can only imagine, Liverpool think he is a grafter, v.competitive & hungry but like you say he is not really a team player & is guaranteed to fall out with someone up there.

how can anyone say that. Just look at who benitez has signed and not 1 player has been a dissapointment so far apart from morientes. Alonso = CLASS, Sissoko = CLASS, Garcia = CLASS, Crouch = Ok not class but makes & scores goals & REINA = Probably one of if not the best keeper in the premiership. Also Bellamy scored a great goal on his debut for pool. I dont know why your all judging him on his past actions. he's a liverpool fan from childhood so he has the passion to play for the most successful club in britain and the 2nd most successful in Europe.

Don't you know how he plays! Bellamy is FAST, and i mean fast! He will suite the Liverpool game, especially with Crouchy up there as a player to play off! I think Rafa knows what he's doing, and can control Craig, good choice.

Similar playing style to Michael Owen; small, pacy, direct which is what Liverpool have been missing over the past couple of seasons. Think he will thrive on Alonso and Gerrard's ammunition

Bellamy is a "bad boy". But if Rafael BenÃtez could change those attitudes, I believe he will be a good assets for Liverpool.
All the best to Liverpool!!!
