Assuming that you're a Windows XP user (you didn't tell us what operating system you're using), start a command prompt and type: ipconfig /all
This will display all the IP networking information about your computer.
Beware that if you have a router and you want to see your IP address as others see you on the internet, then you need to access the router and view the IP address there.
Good Luck

If you are on a Windows XP computer the way that most professionals do it is to use the command prompt. So you will need to do the following:
1. Click the start button then click on "Run."
2. Type "cmd" in the run prompt that appears and hit OK.
3. The Command Prompt appears. Type "ipconfig" and hit enter.
That will display your IP address. If you want to get more technical to get more information, use the command "ipconfig /all."

There are two types of IP addresses.
1. Local IP address: If you have a router, each PC connected to the router has an IP address. Ex: If the router is LINKSYS it starts with 192.168.15.100 to 192.168.15.199
2. IP address provided by your service provider. This IP address can be tracked at www.whatsmyip.com

Be aware that going to the IP sites listed above and below will show your "outside" IP address meaning if you have a router, it shows the rotuers IP address on your network.
If you have Windows XP,2000, XP, or NT, click start, run, type cmd and press enter, type ipconfig and enter...done
if you have under windows 2000, XP, or NT, click on start, run and type winipcfg

if you are on windows xp then go to
start --> run and type cmd
press enter
then in the command prompt ( a black window ) type
ipconfig /all
then press enter again ( this will tell you your ip address and extra info like the mac address of the network card, the subnet, etc etc )
If you are using 98 or me then go to start --> run and type
winipcfg
and press enter, then from the drop down list in that utility select the network adaptor you are using ie the network card and then it will tell you the ip address etc that is assigned to your network card.
NIC ( Network Card Interface )
Hope this helps :)
