I smoked for several years when i was younger.
However I found quitting incredibly easy! I think the
reason for this is i didnt give myself any excuses...
stress, i dont feel good, if i was nervous etc...
No excuses I threw them away and never touched
them again. Its about will power-everyone has it.
My honest opinion is, if you say you can't quit
or you have "tried" to quit. you don't really want
to. I gave my first try a weak, wussy effort and
caved in because my peers all smoked.
The second time i didnt fail because i was
determined. And you know how my "smoker"
friends acted? They laughed at me, and ridiculed
me for quitting. They would purposely go out and
buy me my "brand" of cigarettes. They would
wave them in my face put one in my mouth and
try to light it. It pissed me off so bad I had to
cut myself off from them.
Yes it was very important to me to quit. And they
didnt respect me. They where not REAL friends.
I think everyone can do it...again its all a matter
of making yourself no matter how bad the
withdrawl is. I also gave up most forms of
caffiene as well, and those are crappy withdrawls too.
I have been addicted to many things in my life and
I have quit them all.
Alcohol was the hardest for me. Not because of the
addiction (which was really strong ) i just wasnt
serious hence being "hard". Just do it and
don't be a wuss about it, be tough.
Dont cave in to the "social" aspect of it.
Alot of people are social smokers believe it
or not.
Good luck.
Btw : Nicotinic Acid + vitamin C is supposed
to help with withrawl, Nicotinic Acid is really
just Niacin. : )

I'm a smoker and sometimes I think I want to quit, and other times (like when I'm stressed or just bored) I don't. Qutting would not be that hard for me, even though I've smoked for about 4 years, I can stop for 3 or 4 days and be generally okay. I plan to quit after college.

Non-smoker, well I gave up 4 and a half months ago as smoking made me feel sick after doing it for 8 years.
It was hard at first, but has gotten easier in the last month. Now I would not smoke a cigarette again.
