Every time our cat kicks or noses a kernel of his dry food out of his bowl and onto the floor .. it is usually covered with ants if we don't catch it within 24 hrs.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

there are these things called "ant stakes" they are silver colored metal with a small reservoir at one end that contains ant poison. you have to run a few drops of water over the reservoir (which has a hole about the diameter of a pencil on the top of it) and then stick something like a toothpick in the hole and mix up the poison and water (to activate it). They work really well if you mix up the poison enough, so really smush it around good. And then wash your hands so you don't get any on ya!

It always works for me, both inside and out.

Good Luck

I assume the problem is in your house, if this is the case, buy some 20 Mule Team Borax Laundry soap and put it in one of the cheap ketchup squeeze bottles that you can purchase at any dollar store, put the dry soap in the bottle and apply around baseboards kitchen cabinets anywhere you see the traces of ants as this is more than likely the areas they are coming from. Leave the soap lay for several days until you no longer see any signs of ants, also do not leave the cat food dish out, after your cat eats put the bowl and any remaining food in a zip lock bag until time to feed again. When you no longer see any signs of the ants vacuum up the excess Borax and use the rest of the box of soap to do laundry with. I use this method every year and have for many years. The ants carry the borax back to their nest and it will kill them Good Luck

I've never had any luck with the "roach motels." If these are the small red ants, your best luck is to get an ant spray from the store and try to determine where they're getting in, then spray around the door jam or window. You may want to spray around the baseboards of whatever room the cat's food is in too.

If they're carpenter ants (the big, black nasties), you pretty much have to get an exterminator to determine where they're nesting and to treat with something far more potent than you can get from the store - sometimes it takes a few visits to take care of them all.

Good luck... I hate ants.

If you find an ant bed in your yard, Just put a cup full of gasoline in the middle of the bed. DON'T LIGHT IT!!! it is not necessary. in about ten minutes every ant including the queen will be dead. Don't use a styrofoam cup either! Gas melts styrofoam.

I USE DIAZINON CRYSTALS, JUST FOLLOW DIRECTIONS AND SPRINKLE THEM AROUND THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR HOUSE AND ON ANY HILLS IN YOUR YARD IF YOU HAVE THEM. IT KILLS SMALL ANTS AND THE BIG BLACK ANTS AND THEIR QUEEN DOWN IN THE GROUND. THEN YOU CAN GET RAID SURFACE SPRAY AND SPRAY ACROSS DOORS AND WINDOWS. AFTER IT DRIES YOU CAN WALK ON IT AND THE SMELL GOES AWAY. I HAVE USED BOTH PRODUCTS THE FEW TIMES I HAVE HAD ANTS WITH VERY GOOD RESULTS. IT SEEMS TO KEEP THEM FROM COMING BACK, I HAVE KILLED MOST OF THEIR RELATIVES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. IT MAY TAKE A LITTLE TIME TO GET ALL OF THEM BUT IT HAS WORKED FOR ME.
