I couldn't agree more! But, there are so many people who can't find a valid human life if it doesn't yet look human that I worry if the right decisions will ever be made. I am glad, though, that my tax dollars don't yet pay for this abomination.

Hmm ... I will admit I had never heard there was a ban on
the private funding. Indeed, there are multiple places throughout
the United States where it is privately funded.
The issue here is that a huge amount of research money
either comes from the government or must adhere to restrictions
because other parts of the organization is funded by the
government. That is, if ANY part of a University is funded by
the government, then they can't do stem cell research because
it all goes into the same bank account.
It doesn't matter. We're now so far behind at this point that
the discoveries will be coming out of Asia or Europe and we
will be buying the resulting technologies from them whether
we allow the research or not.
By the way, this question is a pretty good example of
using pointlessly inflamatory language. "The Left" is no
more of a cohesive unit than "The Right". I'm guessing that
you heard one person say this and decided to damn the
rest of us on the basis of it.
Would you care to be painted with the same brush as
Rush Limbaugh?

Well if you must know, I agree with President Bush because an embryonic stem cell is a LIFE. If it wasn't then why when put into a womb does it grow into a baby? It is fertilized and is a life.
Now, to the more serious side of the issue. What T.V. and the "lefties" have done is mis inform the American people to the point they simply do not know what is real and what is a lie. There have been NONE and let me say it again NONE of the diseases we face cured or had the hope of curing using the available EMBRYONIC stem cell lines that are currently available. All of the possible cures have come from ADULT stem cells. You can get those without causing any moral issues whatsoever! Those cells come from adult teeth, bone marrow or the umbilical cord of a child who has not had to die for the "cure" of a disease.
Get informed of the facts people and understand we can do the same thing better with ADULT stem cells and never have to face any of the issues that were brought up today by the President's veto! God bless him and the lives of the children he saved by doing so!

Oh I see how you Righties think if this research is for profit that's fine but if it is publicly funded No way Jose. if that line of thinking was used back when the vaccine for polio came out only the very wealthy would have been able to afford to get it to hell with those who could not Also the embryo being used would have been tossed as medical waste so why not make use of them both by private and publicly funded research The government wastes enough money on crap like the Star Wars Missile defense system that has been prov-en not to work So why not put some public money into something productive for a change.

Ok, I will stop lying about it, with federal money, there could possibly be a cure for many horrific disease's in a matter of a few short years. Without it, it will take much longer. I sure hope that you do not get Alzheimer's or your parents don't get Parkinson's and need this research in sooner then it will be able to come because of George Bush and his politics. By the way it is not a moral decision he has made at all, it is all about money. If they find a CURE for these terrible diseases, the pharmaceutical company's will not profit from treating them. This decision is just another where Bush is looking out for big business and should not come as any surprise to anybody democrat or repuke included.

Where have you read that the Left is "lying" about this?! Why don't you do some research and point us in the direction that you're looking? You'll see that a majority of Americans support both stem cell research AND government funding of stem cell research.
Do you know what a Veto is? It's when the President refuses to sign off on a bill that a MAJORITY of BOTH houses of a REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED CONGRESS passed. Congressmen and Senators represent the People of the United States.
Nobody but you is lying, and the only person you're lying to is yourself.

No they wont. The fact is the bill that President Bush vetoed was to permitt government funding of stem cell research. It is in no way banning the research in America. The fact is we live in a capitalist country and Im sure that since theres a will theres a way. The government just isnt going to pay for it.

You are the one lying and it has nothing to do with left or right... it's the very first time the Prez used his Veto power and isn't it odd that it goes against 72% of popular opinion both left and right ?..but it fits in perfectly with his ultra primitive Angelical Rights agenda... and how about those two Republican Senators that introduced two bills to soften the blow back from the popular opinion but for once the house put up a snag and Curious George got the full egg on his face...who's the liar ????

WOW, someone who thinks an embryo is a human life is calling someone else ignorant. - LOL
BTW- It's not just a left issue - 75% of the population wants the research funded and Bush just spit in their face.

And wouldn't it be nice if we could start leading the world in scientific research once again. Even Richard Nixon believed in this, just look at all the funding he provided for cancer research.
