Wow, people, shut up, You dont know crap.
The core duo is a entirely different family of cpu's with an entirely different manufacturing process. The Ghz arent equivalent.

The dual cores dont add up to one. they can only run seperately. the reason thats good is because you can have one core run one thing and have another core run another thing at full speeds. I have a t2300 1.66ghz centrino duo, and I know for sure it runs the same speed with 1 core than 2. do you know why? I actually tested it. In 3dmark05, it actually scored higher when I limited it to a single core.
In real life performance, the t2300 is about the same as a p4 3.4ghz. I timed the loading times for Battlefield 2 and my t2300 beat the 3.4ghz by about 5 seconds, about 8%. thats with both running sata150 hdd, and 1gb ram. In windows, you cant tell the difference.

ghz is not a measure of speed because different cpus work at different efficiency.
I think that this would be approximatrly 2.6-2.8 ghz on a pentium desktop cpu. This is core duo, so the processing speed is almost double. The 2 cores of the chip process data simultaneously.
These 2 cpus have different purposes. Core duo was designed for low overheating and long battery life. The other one was designed for performance.

LOL, U got a good processor 4 sure - absolutely no issues !

1.66 ghz duo means u can do 2 tasks @ 1.66 ghz each
the 1.66 ghz does not get divided between the two tasks as in other processors.

It is not a top-line processor, but a very good one
good & fast enough for most routine applications

use it and results will speak for themselves
> if u have any doubts - forget; any issues/problems - lemme know

centrino duo was designed for the laptop market but is slower than the pentium chips found in new desktops. it does , however, allow the laptops more speed with less power usage in battery operation. that way your battery power lasts longer between recharges.

the duo series "code name conroe" is a new chip from intel
it's slower than the pentium chips but it's really much better than it
so u can't really find a pentuim equivialnt to it "much newer than the pentium"
