Because you have to pay to see a movie or listen to music. TV airwaves are controlled by the government. Since they're free, technically, they have to bow to the whim of the most easily offended nutjob out there, lest the incidental slip of a horrible four letter word cause them emotional distress. They can still swear on cable, but if these weenies have their way even that will be off limits.

It has to do with the broadcast laws. Movies are rated to the specific audience they are intended for and the theatres tend to enforce the rules. While many TV programs are also rated, only parents can control which programs their children watch, but many don't bother.

There are certain words that you cannot say on TV....not network anyway. You can say them on HBO, but not on regular TV.

because anyone has access to the telly but you have ratings on cds so you shouldnt be able to buy them if your a kid.
