Uk, 2006. "surroundings" may not apply. (in terms of England's green and Pleasant land)
If Walking:
Take a cell phone( to call 911/999)
Mace
A legal weapon
Scratch above...an Illegal weapon
Do not give that junky a "light"
Do not speak
Ignore those hoody's
Tell your partner to do the above
Ignore it when they start to call her a slag, feel her breasts.
Report it to their teacher
Like they care (its out of school)
Report it to a social worker
Like they care, its not your own! (one call from neighbours about a noisey stereo with booze involved, a barbecue?, and they'd be in care, quicker than you could say, Please come and pick this tosser up he's clearly breaking his/her ASBO, in front of witnesses)
Walk along, head down
Remember, the criminals have the rights,
Teenagers DO know more than us, and should be treated as such
They come from broken homes
they broke it.
Enjoy your your walk, in England, 2006.

We went walking near home on Monday night. The kids loved it. We were gone an hour. We actually went looking for blackberries but they were all green and not ripe. My eldest, packed water and a snack although we were only a few steps away from home. We hadn't been on that walk which is local to where we live, since August last year. Last time I walked alone was when I had gone into hospital to induce a baby that just wouldn't be born. So after my first bout of treatment I walked out of the hospital grounds and did a circular walk of the whole building. Then I took the stairs back to my ward and that really did it! I gave birth four hours later.

I would have to say about a month ago. I go to city parks and other out door places, but not on an extensive walk. I usually sit and enjoy the outdoors while reading a good book. In an urbanized city you're not going to find alot of natural beauty in your "surroundings". You're going to find alot of concrete buildings and if you're living in a city like mine, nothing really changes much because we don't have severe climate changes.....that's the westcoast for ya!

Walking for the sake of walking is quite boring, but if you walk and take in the environment ( eg views, sounds and smells etc) it can be very rewarding both physically and mentally. my wife and I (not forgetting our dog) go for regular walks all year round, and is amazing how the walk can change physically with the weather and the seasons. It does take a bit of gettin used to but once you get into the habit it is a cheap, easy and rewarding way to keep fit!!

This morning - at sunrise - on the beach. Just try to relate to the experience of living in the Caribbean and going to the beach for "exercise". The sun was white-gold, the water a pure turquoise, and ..... not sure .... but that fin was probably a dolphin. The pelicans were feeding, the other birds were chirping and trilling ..... it was oh, so very nice.

Yesterday. Went for a walk in London with my bf. I love walking, and I love nature. Central London's always a good place to walk if you like observing people and seeing the sights. plus the parks are very beautiful.

To only wander around and smell the roses per say? Not in awhile. Have gone a nice recent bike ride away from the hustle and bustle which was nice.
