A good speech is one that makes the listening audience visualize and think about what is being said with a minimum of content.
A classic example would be Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.
Imagine being one of the folks in the audience hearing it for the very first time.

A lot of people mistakenly think that Al Gore is boring, but he is a fantastic public speaker. His speach at the democratic national convention for Clinton's second term was amazing.
