Travelodge in Kissimmee - the one across from Old Town. Cheap rates - nice rooms as its being renovated now - and has good food rates, food court, etc. Also walking distance to many stores and fun things to do besides Disney. They also have a Disney shuttle. Rates can be as low as $59 depending on the time of year of course

Emily's right, while there are many discount hotels on 192 in Kissimmee (which is about 5-10 min to WDW), unless you stick with a name brand (Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn, Best Western, etc.) you run a real risk of staying in a literal flea bag with Florida's famous flying cockroaches. The budget properties at WDW run for as low as $79 a night (which is probably $10 more a night than you'd pay at a national chain. You get SOOOO many perks with staying on Disney property. First, parking is at least $8 a day now, so add that into your off-property cost. You also get the early entry perk, admission up to an hour early in a different park each day, given the high cost of Disney admissions, that extra hour can really help you see alot more, and get more bang for your buck. Also, if you're only planning on doing WDW, if you stay on Disney property you won't even need a car, since Disney really has a great transportation system, so if you're flying to Orlando, you can eliminate a rental car from your expenses, and merely get transfers to and from the airport. A great website is Mousesavers, there's LOADS of ideas on there of ways to do Disney on a limited budget. Good luck, and have fun!!

Stay at Disney's Pop Century Resort...you may not be in the room much but staying inside the DisneyWorld resort area makes the vacation that much better and in some cases the price is just as reasonable as outside the park. My first trip to Disney as a kid we spent it outside of the resort and the first thing my parents said is they wished they would have spent the extra couple of dollars to make the vacation even better. Keep in mind that when you stay at a Disney resort hotel you also have free parking at all the parks, full use of the Disney transportation system and early entrance into the parks. Book a package deal through a wholesale travel supplier and save even more. Stay on property at an allstar or pop century. It will be around 110 high season... that is pretty cheap and then you get all of Disney's amenities. The other hotels that are cheap and claim to be 1.5 miles away from Disney... this means the entrance of Disney... not any of the parks. Disney is VAST. We just got back from a 10 day Disney vacation and spent 1900 for the room and tickets. I buy them separately and I had park hopper with water park tickets, stayed at the pop century

When we went we were always on a tight budget. We used to go to the trailer parks which are owned by retired people, and rent for a week. Nice size, quiet with pool and had laundry facilities and was always close, like 5-10 mins away. Theres alot of them. Usually paid 250 US for a week. In Kissimee area.

I once stayeda at the Masters Inn on 192, I think it was like $60 way cheap but if your willing to spend more take the advice of others and look into staying on property...free bus from airport and Disney transportation eliminates gas and rental car charges

The closest? Do you want roach motel then maybe off Disney property on 192. If you want to save on gas plus get certain perks which would save you money (free bus on property, extra hours in parks plus more) stay at one of the Budget class Disney properties. No, I do not work for Disney but I do know how to get the most out of Disney on a budget. Being at one of the budget resorts makes it very convenient on so many levels. Go to the Walt Disney World website and compare the various resorts. Yes, there are some nice places to stay in Kissimee but as a tourist or a traveler if Anthony Bourdain ever reads this, do you want to be stuck in local traffic trying to figure out where to go? Trust me, it is a crap shoot in terms of how much you're willing to sacrifice quality when staying in Florida: our cockroaches are gigantic, they fly and they are everywhere in the cheap motels. Especially the ones without "gimmicks." Besides, most of the no- frills places cost just as much as the Disney Budget resorts, maybe more than Disney. You can drive anywhere from Disney property easier as well. If you like shooting yourself in the foot, staying at a resort not on Disney property is your best bet. You might as well sleep in your car or the YMCA because that might be more cheaper but not safe and convenient as staying at Disney's budget class resorts.
