Accomplish something worth being proud of. It doesn't matter what - a college degree, a painting, solving the New York Times crossword, growing a beautiful garden of perennials, or any other thing that is interesting to you, takes some effort, and not everyone can do. Once you've done one thing, then try another a little more difficult. Persevere, keep at it. Rest assured that if you are accomplishing difficult things, self confidence will come from within. You don't need others to say so.

Good luck.

It really depends on the person.

I had fairly low self-confidence in middle school and the beginning of high school because I got made fun of a lot. Then I discovered that there was choir in my high school that alternated with band, so I decided to try it. Our teacher wanted us to sing out and to sing proudly.

Performing in front of the school every year about three times a year was really a confidence booster.

If singing isn't for you, maybe try joining a dance class or an aerobics class or something. Exercising is a good way to build confidence.

Through doing things you are good at, through self discovery, through a solid group of respectable like-minded peers. Read books on the subject, build your mind, get good at something you are interested in, become an expert through self study. Find a group to share ideas with, mentor a young person, be a Big Brother. Respect yourself, write down all the things you are good at today. Right down all the things you want to be known for by the time you die...become that person.

Stop comparing yourself to other people and images in magazines and TV.

The perfect pics you see in mags and TV are air brushed and covered in make-up by make-up artist and the best lighting is used to hide flaws.

No-one is perfect and you can't expect yourself to be.

As soon as you just concentrate on being the best you, you can be it will be easier. And don't only focus on outer beauty. Build skills and take classes and do activities and accomplish something that will make you proud of yourself.

I wasn't as confident as I am now. The thing that helped me was being around people who have very high confidence. Trust me it helps. You just pick up on their behavior. Oh yea one more thing, lets say you're too shy to do or say something... just make yourself do it, dont walk away from it. Over time you will get over it.

I build self-confidence by acting confident. I literally step out of my usual quiet, shy demeanor, hold my head up, and act decisively. My achievements then reinforce my behavior.

If you have to ask you'll never know. The fact that your asking means you aren't sure of yourself. Anyway, try a pickup line on a girl.

Like this:

A night with me is like breakfast at Burger King. Either way you wake up with the king.

Stop caring what other people think about you. Stop following the crowd and get your own thing. When some one says or does something to you then either tell some one of handle it yourself. Santd up for yourself!!!

Look at the person next to you really good. Now. REALLY? Aren't you as good as him? Honestly. And in some ways even better?

Is he moral, clean, healthy? What about his clothes, teeth, is he kind? And even besides that, overall, don't your family love YOU for a reason? Basically, to me, thats what it all comes down to, trusting in your loved ones.

They couldn't love someone who was BAD, and they love, support and treasure you, so why don't you?

Tell myself everyday that I am beautiful. Think positive. Take some time out to be by myself. Make sure my nails and toes are done. Smiling. Eating right.
