Depends on how rediculous the question is. I've seen some really stupid questions in here.

If sarcasm really is the lowest form of wit then it makes perfect sense to answer in this manner since it will resonate with the largest amount of people at the lowest common denominator.In other words, the lowest form of wit is just about right for more than 50% of the questions on here.

I can understand where you are coming from to a degree:
But you have to admit: Many answers on here are deserving of nothing more than a sarcastic response!!
And while 'Sarcasm' may be the lowest form of wit!! 'Wit' is said to be one of the highest forms of 'Intelligence'!!!

I go on the assumption that most people just want the 2 points that come with answering a question. Its not as if Yahoo is going to reward us all in some large way. This is an outlet that Yahoo has given us to share knowledge with each other. If i ask a question, it really angers me to get a sarcastic answer or a joke in response. It shows that they should not be allowed to answer a question for anyone. However, we are all different and we have to deal with those who are ignorant as well as those who we agree with.

Because many people are unaware that they come across as sarcastic. Also, I don't believe sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. Making a pun is.

I'm very sarcastic, but I'd only answer a question sarcastically on here if it was ludicrous or invited it. There's no need to be sarky when someone's being serious, I think people sometimes misjudge the asker...

and anyway how do you know they are being sarcastic do you have magic telepathic thoughts whereby you can translate the meaning of words typed into the manner in which they were meant.

Everyone in the world is getting sarcastic. It's not just comedians and dicks anymore. Years ago, sarcasm was reserved for people talking to people stupider than them. Now the stupids are fighting back, and doing it so badly, you can't trust anything people say anymore.
