I'm not able to use tampons yet. I was invited to go w/ my friends to a water park, and I want to know how well wearing a pad under your bathing suit and shorts works. Anyone have any other advice? Please, help!

I'm not looking to swim, but to go on water rides. So I wouldn't be completely submerged or anything.

I'd love to use tampons, but my mom won't let me. And now that she knows I have my period she is coming.

Your exact situation happened to me years ago! I hadn't had my period very long and had never used a tampon. I have a solution, but it will only work if you don't have a really heavy flow that day.
Don't wear a pad. Just wear your bathing suit and a pair of those shiny black shorts kind of like trunks over it. You'll be on enough slides that it probably won't show. This did work for me, by the way. And I know some people might think it's gross. But as long as you don't have AIDS, there's nothing that bad about a tiny bit of blood getting into the water. There are probably people on the rides who are filthy from lack of bathing, people peeing in the water, and God knows what else!

But you should also have a talk with your mom about tampons. She may believe in that ridiculous notion that tampons make you not a virgin anymore. The only thing that changes virginity is having sexual intercourse! Good luck at the park.

The best way to deal with your period is to either use a tampon or not go until your cycle is over. Wearing a pad in water is unsanitary for you and everyone else on the slides & rides. Regardless of if you're wearing a baithing suit or shorts, water is still going to flow through. The pads will swell up with water and not hold your blood. This will also turn out to be very embarassing for you because you will end up leaking. You should discuss your concerns with you Mom. If she still won't let you then I would change your plans or don't ride any water rides. Good Luck!

Pads are not going to work because once you get into the water, the pad will swell up and that will look pretty nasty and then it might leak and everyone will know you have your period. The only way is to use a tampon at the water park. Why are you not able to use tampons yet?

Just wear some cute bathing suit shorts and a pad and DON'T SWIM. It's pretty much your only option if you don't use tampons, unfortunately!

You can still have fun, just don't go in the water and you'll be fine.

Personally, I wouldn't waer a pad ander my bating suit as is leaks and gets water logged and you are SOOOOOOO aware of it. You really have to stay out of the water.
Best thing to do is to experiment with tampons. Try using some KY jelly on the end of a tampon to make it easier to insert. It really does help, and if you don't find it confortable, either take a break, or use another one with KY jelly until you find a comfortable position. You can do it, and it will make your life soooo much easier when you feel like you are empowered enought to have control when you have your period

You just have to wear a plug if you know what I mean if not a tampon. Forget the pads on this trip. They make a teen tampon which is more exceptible size for a youngster.

first off there is no reason why you can't use a tampon...unless you have a had TSS (if you don't know what it is then you have not had it)

Second it is not sanitary for you and other people if you wear a pad in a public pool ....Do you also pee in the pool? Please skip out on the pool if you are on your period and choose not to use a tampon!

No, the water will wash the blood out. Do NOT try it. Try putting a used pad into a bathtub full of water and you'll see what I mean. Why can't you use a tampon?

wont work.. all the water will be absorbed by the pad and therefore the pad wont absorb any of the blood.

you need a tampon unless you're not going to go in the water at all.. and then whats the point in even going at all?
