The day after tommorow is a story portrayel of what will realistically happen due to global warming and pollution. However since writers wanted a thrilling storyline that drew in viewers, they increased the speed at which events took place and the overall harshness of the events. There is no doubt that the plot for The Day After Tommorow is possible, and will happen eventually, however these events will come slowly and become worse over time.
