Yes you can still weed and feed your lawn. You will not get all the weeds that come in spring but you will put a large dent in the ones there now, clover, chick weed and other assorted broad leaf weeds. Crab grass is a creature of its own and will need a different product especially made for crab grass. It is easy to remember when to apply it. I do it when taxes are due since by then the ground has become 65 degrees at which time the seeds from the previous year germinate. When applying do put it down in the early morning when there is due on the ground or after a nice rain with no more to come for at least 24 hours. Happy weed killing.

If you mean that you were not able to put down a pre-emergent herbicide (fertilizer and pre-emergent herbicide mixture), then it is possible that it is too late. You never want to apply too much pre emergence herbicide because it may harm your grass. as long as you follow the manufactures recommendations on the label, you will be fine!

You can apply a pre-emergent herbicide 2 times per year, once in the spring and once in the fall. The spring application will kill off any summer germinating weeds whereas the fall application will kill off any winter annuals (sorry, I am speaking on behalf of Florida weather). The application does depend on where you live, so check with your local university or extension agent!

A pre-emergent herbicide will only keep weed seeds from germinating and may have a slight effect on seedlings that have just germinated. Once the weed gets larger, post emergence herbicides will work (these do not work on seeds).

Hope that helps!

We do our lawn year round. What we have found that has seemed to work on our lawn is Scotts turf builder. They come in different bags for different time of year....also if you need to seed parts of your lawn (for bare spots or whatever) Spread the seeds in early to mid fall..when its not so hot because the sun can kill the seedlings (past experience..live in NC) and we use Kentucky Tall Fescue and cenipede which is so soft here...grass is really hard to grow in my area since it's a new developement.

You can prevent weeds all year round if you use the right weed killer/preventer and at the right time of year. If you use Scotts it tells you on the bag when/how much/and how many months after you put the first application down.

It would be so much easier if we had Chem-Lawn come out here...had it in VA and it was nice....

You must have been using the Nitrogen based fertilizer.Nitrogen is hot and could burn plants,no matter the amount you use.You should,I mean you should always pour some water on your plants directly to the plants after you fertilize them,it would put down the heat. If it is grass, yes you can save it,since usually the hair root of the grass has more resistence to the nitrogen, only the surface get burned, what you should do is just wait and keep watering them on regular daily basis. But,if it is bushes, flower, sorry, you lost them. You have to replace them with the new ones. For the beggining use the natural fertilizer first to restore the mineral of the dirt that has been burnt before.

Always great time to weed and feed. Do in the morning when the dew is on the grass so the granulars will stick good
