I don't know! I am still living and struggling here to make ends meet and i still can't comment on poverty. But I can comment from my own actions, life, failures and achievements though. I have been well off, dirt poor, homeless, and now close to being in the middle class. What kept me going in life even now is my beliefs in God, and my faith in God and my strengths that God has given me to keep going and accomplish them.

Struggles in this life are a part of life. Don't kid your self a lot of people who appear to be well off struggled to get where they are. I have some one in my family who got a PHD all alone she did get a scholarship but had no help other wise She worked after School. and ate very skimpy became a Teacher then Land Investment became very wealthy against all odds. How do I know she keep a Diary . that said she had nothing to eat two days, then took a Piece of bread from a restaurant plate, that was left by some one else. And today She would tell you , you do not know what hard times are, there are so many ways out there to overcome poverty, and they are not easy but a education is the first step. Then just think you can tell your Grandchildren how tough it was for you. " oh Keep a Diary"
you will look back and read it in ten years and say that was the good old days.

Well a few years ago, I came across a lot of promotion on western television, where a young boy started a fund raising campaign to eliminate child labour in India.
I was amazed. I watched for a couple of days and then shut off the programming when it came on. That was the time I knew for myself how ignorant and arrogant western society is.
Here is this young boy, still in school, spending most of his time collecting vast amounts of money to send to a country he has not visited or lived in, has no history of the country, has no idea what poverty is, because he would not have been able to do this work if he had been poor and the media and the dignitories were going crazy about it.
I shut it off.
Let me explain. The money that came to build the west came from India and Africa and places like that. But those who took the money never once looked back to see what they had left behind. They stole the money to bring the country down to extreme poverty, just to build their own homes.
Then there is illiteracy and ignorance as the country has no infra structure to build on to help this obscene number of poor people.
So the children have to go out and work because it is a very extreme case of poverty. Wages are not good and a lot of them cannot afford even a pair of shoes where as most of the western kids have several pairs and eat all kinds of nice food etc.
IT is a long story but this showed me the ignrance of the western society. No one in the west is educated enough to accept they are human rights violators and if there is suffering in the world it is because of such violatons.
So white people or rich people or whatever cannot go to a country like india where we have 300,000,000 poor people and start making conditions as how they are going to survive.
It does not work. Western people have to stop interfering in such matters and let the people from within the country decide what is the best way to tackle the situation.
I will give you just one example of ignorant behaviour of rich people.
I am sure you know Dr. Phil. He is the psychologist who gives advice on life.
Once I was watching the program where he showed how he and his wife had started a children's charity to help kids who are not so well off.
Good work. Very healthy for the human soul.
The next time I noticed something offensive. It was Robin his wife giving advice on some clothing and shoes and cosmetics.
And she commented on the shoes she was wearing. I think she mentioned the price which shocked me as I was not even getting that for my monthly amount in pension.
She said "Oh these shoes are to die for"
Do you get it?

Because they are taught that if they read about it in the paper then they know first hand what it is like, truth is that there is no one alive today that has lived in true poverty in america. My grandparents generation were the last to know what it was like to go to bed hungry or homeless. But today's generation are taught that they are intelligent whe nthey are actually brainwashed. They think that if they don't have a cell phone that they are destitute, if they don't have a car, they are worthless, the girls think that if they don't screw every guy that is interested in them that they will never have a boyfriend, boys think that if they treat everyone with disrespect that soemhow this will generate respect. Between the education system and the socialist media, this generation is being led to self destruction.

Fortunately, I have never crossed paths with a person who thought they knew about the struggles and hardtimes without bearing them themselves. I am very young, but have led a difficult life with poverty abounding and struggles that I thought I would never survive. I am 24, have 2 children and my loving husband. We endured these times together, and now I am proud to say, after 6 yrs of roughing it... We are finally considered lower middle class and I consider it a wonderful thing. I believe people have a reason for being on earth and that every struggle makes you stronger. My family and my faith saw me through.

Those are the type of people who perhaps academically know about struggle but tend to preach like they've actually lived it. Unless you've been there, you're merely speculating. It doesn't mean what they may be saying is incorrect but it does hurt their credibility should they present their opinion as anything other than that of an outside observer.

I know so many people like that. You will never get away from them. They are everywhere. They do it/talk about it to get attention. They are only people to ignore. They waste time and try to have a bad life to get more attention then they already have[if thats possible.]
