An advantage to majoring is Psychology is that it is interesting and it gives you some answers as to why people may behave the way that they do. The disadvantage is that it is difficult to get a job with a BA in Psychology. Actually, it might not be that difficult, but if you plan on working somewhere where you are actually using your major, the jobs don't necessarily pay extremely well. A lot of people who major in one of the social sciences usually end up going back to school for their master's degree and beyond. There is much more mobility once you go beyond the bachelor degree. Also, a lot of people do not understand psychology, they think that it is "psychobabble", however, most of the people that I have encountered you state this are usually quite ignorant and narrow minded (and could actually use some help psychologically as well!). There is a science to it (obviously), however, it is much more difficult to "observe" what happens behaviorally than it is, say, to observe building a bridge (like being an engineer). There are a lot of factors to control for when conducting psychological inquiry so it is not as straight forward as some other disciplines and there tends to be a lot of anecdotal evindence, still, that doesn't mean that it is not worthwhile to explore.

I majored in Psychology. The advantages are that you get an insight into the human brain, behavior, and development. By studying psychology, we get a better understanding of why we do things as individuals and as a whole. The brain is the most complicated organ in the human body and psychology allows us to look at it in every aspect from biological to psychological. We can unravel the mysteries of our behaviors and illnesses to better understand and aid our fellow man. It's a subject that can be applied to every day life.
Disadvantages are that in order to achieve anything with a psychology degree and work in the field, you must continue your education at the graduate level. Also, there are a lot of limited opportunities for someone with a psychology degree in comparison to the large number of people with the degree. Depending on which direction you take, you also have to be prepared to deal with the difficult situations that psychologically disturbed people bring. You have to be of strong will and mind.
Hope that helps. Good luck!

Foremost, one entering this field must want to work with people and have the ability to problem solve. Biggest disadvantage would be if you let other peoples problems get to you, and the feeling of trying to solve all the worlds problems. Must be able to deal with severalproblems at one time, become unemotional or this job just like a social worker or policeman, will tear you apart. There are several subfields within this area, just not clinical, so you just have to find an area that best suits you

I think ad advatage is being able to have the kowledge of psychology. Also that yo would have the experience with you forever. A disadvantage is that you may act like a psychologist with your friends and they may ot like that way o thinking and etc.
