Breastmilk is best I agree. Search under something like "induced lactation".

Have heard it's possible if your breasts & nipples are massaged & sucked for long periods each day. I'll volunteer for that "awful" job. Also put the baby on your breast anyway to get you both into the habit.

There is also a herb to take, but I can't remember the name.

I've never been pregnant, but I started producing breast milk when I developed a prolactin-secreting tumor on my pituitary gland. Your pituitary gland is at the base of your brain. Prolactin is the hormone present in breast milk. Don't ask me how I managed that one, because I'm still trying to figure it out.

Induced lactation is possible for adoption mum. Months prior to receiving the baby, one should start to pump and stimulate the breasts. I read that you need to pump 20min each breast a few times each day, say 5 times, to really be able to induce lactation.

But since your baby has arrived, put your baby to the breast as often as possible and hope this will induce milk, i think.

I read all this from La Leach group, they feature few successful cases.

Also, get the hormone injection to help.

Believe it or not, you can BUY breast milk. I've seen ads in the paper selling and buying. I don't think they have a way to make you lactate, though. I used to be a dairy farmer and even cows have to bear a calf in order to do it. If there was a pill or a shot, They'd use it for cows!

Mothers making milk are usually protected from ovulation but not so well that you can count on it. You have to use some barrier method..since any pills to prevent pregnency will stop the milk. There is a lot of history of women who have nursed in past times that can stimulate new milk production by letting the baby just nurse..whenever. Have you ever nursed? Are you very religious? God could pobably help some, if He approves of your goal. Start praying. It is not a stupid question...ask your Gyn doctor. Maybe they do have a shot? Ask the baby's doctor. They will enjoy answering.

If you have NEVER been pregnant, there is nothing you can do to stimulate breast milk production. However, if you have ever been pregnant in your life, there are devices which a woman wears, with a nipple that covers her own, and a bag to hold formula. While the baby sucks the formula through the artificial nipple, the sucking stimulation will SOMETIMES start milk production. However, this only works sometimes, and is not a quick thing. You might check with a group like La Leche League for further information on this device. While breast feeding has some advantages, the most important thing about how you feed your baby, is that you are relaxed, happy and confident during feeding sessions. You will still make eye contact and bond with your baby. Congrats on your adoption.
