will it hurt? my teeth are really bad right now how do you think i will look afterwards? will i need chapstick and vaseline?

I had braces for four years. It was torture, but mostly because I couldn't wait to get the darn things off. Yes, it will hurt, but not as badly as you think. When you first get them, your teeth will hurt, but just take some Advil and the pain will soon go away. My teeth were really bad when I got braces, but now they look really good. Trust me, it may not be a desired experience, but you will benefit. And a bit of advice: Try not to eat noodles or bread too much; it gets stuck in the wires and looks nasty. Brush your teeth frequently. You may occasionally need chapstick, but no, you will not need vaseline...Good Luck! :D

Braces only hurt after you put them on. Take advil or something a few mins before you get them on and it will help alot with the pain. When I got my braces off and looked at my teeth for the first time in 3 1/2 years I thought they looked horrid! But now I think they look awesome! Remember to brush a lot and floride. And never forget rubberbands and headgear (i would have had my braces off like a year sooner if I had worn them more often)
You will need chapstick - and ask the ortho for wax - youll need it!

I actually had a pretty severe case where I needed to wear braces for 3 years and I must say that all the horror stories weren't as bad as reality. The reality of it all is that yes it does hurt, but only when the day after they tighten your braces. What I usually did for that was I got into the hot shower and rinsed my mouth with hot water. And that's about as bad as it got for me. I did not have to wear chap stick and when I kissed my boyfriend our braces did not get tangled...I think that only happens in the movies...or else the two kissers are pretty bad at their endeavor:) But if you say that your teeth don't look perfect now, they will look close to it after braces. Just wear the retainer they give you:) Trust me:) Have no fear because tons of people have to get braces and it really isn't as bad as the nerds on TV make it out to be:) Also have fun with the colors. braces can be a fashion statement too.

i don't think they hurt much i mean the day i got them we had steak for dinner and me with freshly done braces eating steak and it didn't hurt!!! the next few days and weeks were much the same... mostly they only hurt when you get a thicker wire put on or sometimes ppl say the bands hurt like for correcting an overbite but i didn't really have a problem with it. anyway i haven't gotten mine off yet but i'm about to... next time i go to the orth. but i have never seen someone get their braces off and look worse than they did before so take comfort in the fact that you will have a great straight smile to show off afterwards. and i don't know about some people but with me i have never needed chapstick for getting my braces stuck to my lip but i don't hurt to put some on a bit before you go into the orth. cause they always trying to pull ur mouth around so it might help just so your lips don't crack cause they are pulling a your mouth. Plus everytime you go in you get to pick colors so braces aren't ugly at all!!!

Yes it hurts, but not the whole time. After, you will thank your parents for your teeth. No vaseline but YES to cahpstick.

it will hurt when they are fixing it in but not much, you will look great after once your teeth are straight you will look beautiful, and you prob wont need vaseline but carry some with you just to be on the safe side.

your teeth will look fantastic afterwards, therefore making you more handsome. and you might need chapstick not really unless you alreayd have shapped lips and for the firs tmonth or so give or take you will need wax. but i say definately go with it because afterwards itll b great

It'll hurt, even every month when you get them tightened. I suggest you take a painkiller before you go. The wires will cut your lips and mouth. After you get them off you have to wear a retainer. But in the end it will be all worth it.

you will look good when you take the braces off & you will not look bad with them actully it is pretty cool i know a lot of people who love their braces but they are hardto clean a lot of kids get braces when they are teens & younger i'm sorry if i did not help & your lips i think will dry after you get your braces in & you may sound weird for at least a month but whats cool is that you can get diffrent colors to match you but i hope that you will enjoy after wards

well it is gona hurt but you will get used to it. my best friend had braces and she had them for two years. she had a hard time eating gum and oreos. but if you do get them, just keep on looking at the mirror to make sure that u dont have food on your teeth. AAHHH!!!! that would be scary!
