Yes, I had one under general anesthesia. It was a piece of cake. I stayed home from work for one day, though I didn't really need to. The biopsy came back positive, unfortunately, but it appears that the procedure cut it all out at the same time, because I've tested negative for the past year.

The cone biopsy will take a cone shaped piece of tissue from your cervix to check for cell abnormalities that might indicate cervical cancer. You will be set up like when you have a pap smear and the biopsy procedure WILL be uncomfortable with a little bleeding afterwards, but is essential in order for the doctor to know how to proceed with treating you. Take care

ok, if your outcomes have been ASCUS with extreme danger HPV or LGSIL (those are gentle forms of dysplasia) counting on your age and your pap history might make certain in case you had a colposcopy. the only time a chilly Knife Cone or LEEP technique are cautioned is whenn the severity of your unusual cells is shown by biopsy to be CIN II or CIN III (mod or severe dysplasia) or you have been coping with Low Grade Cells for a era of three years or greater. frequently my medical docs do no longer choose to circulate to that severe for the comparable motives you reported, even nonetheless the main secure technique while coping with the severe cells is Cryotherapy which freezes the unusual cells and keeps fertility. FYI a chilly Knife Cone is barely performed while the unusual cells have made their way into your cervix, subsequently your physician ought to do a LEEP with a tophat.

went through this last year, love. its not too bad, just a pinch when they remove the areas they want to biopsy. you'll feel crampy for a bit so take some ibuprofen afterwards. if they come back harmful (cancer or not, which mine weren't) they may do another procedure called LEEP which removes the entire affected area. there is also another method of removal other than LEEP, but it escapes me at present time.
