Recently in Texas 2 teenagers killed their "friend" out of "morbid curiosity". I think instead of sitting in jail they should be sent to fight in Iraq, or wherever our troops need assistance. Let them find out what killing is really like.

If I were in the military I wouldn't want them in my unit. Why on earth would you expect a murderer to only kill the enemy? He gets mad at the Sargent for giving him an order and bam the sarg is shot by the convict. They have proven themselves as not very reliable having guns in their possession. Furthermore they have found out what killing is really like for they have done it.

It's a nice idea, but it most likely won't work. If two people who casually killed their friend just to see him die were given rifles, grenades, machine guns, and maybe artillery and a tank, what would they be capable of then? Already in this war there are two soldiers on trial for killing their superior officers. Imagine these Texas teenagers as trained killers with the latest and greatest weapons?
Also, there are soldiers on trial right now accused of raping and killing an Iraqi woman and her family. These men volunteered to serve honorably in the military and follow the rules of war and they still committed this brutal, senseless crime. Now, that brings us back to our sociopath teens in Texas who murdered a good friend of theirs. Do the rules of war apply to them? If they were released from death row to fight in Iraq, they would have nothing to lose when they went berserk while heavily armed.
Your idea has merit only if their is some way to control the impulses of psychopaths. However, it is not likely. However, I share the sentiments expressed in your question. Their punishment should be severe.

Having some one that is on death row because of murder being sent to Iraq, will not going to solve the problem we have in insurgents attacking our troops. What will happen would be that these two teenagers who commit murder will kill another innocent civilians and our troops will be targeted more by other insurgents who already does not like us being there.
I don't want my boyfriend to come home in a coffin, nor would his parents, nor would any other families having their loved ones being deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan.
What we need is to have these two kids to work hard manual labor for them to repent, unless otherwise the death sentence is already in progress, let the law takes its own course.

aND let them learn to kill even further? Well i think you are not considering that some people are against war, and killing other people. Just because they have killed before and will be sent to prison, doesn't make it a good idea to let them run wild in Iraq or else where. Doesn't it scare you enough that we have soldiers there rapping and murdering Innocent civilians?

Yeah lets definitely arm convicted murderers.

During the Vietnam War courts would often offer youths up on various charges the choice of jail/prison, or going to the war, so it is not an unprecedented idea. The Marines were not eager to take scum, even during the worst of the Vietnam War, so hopefully the military would take people up on charges far short of murder.

Wouldn't work animals like that would just turn tail and run. Bring back the death penalty and limit it to 2 appeals. Then send them on their merry way to hell ( if there is one). That way they never kill again and we aren't supporting their worthless existence for the rest of their lives taking money that could be much better spent in other ways!

I think they should be slowly killed, salt in the wounds, publicly, ON TV, vinegar in little cuts all over their bodies, then let them recover an hour and start all over again...drag it out for weeks...televise it the whole time! I am sick to death of death penalities that stretch into 15 years of appeals...for what?

Absolutely NOT! Our armed forces are trained to use force when necessary. They are not psychotic killers. No Marine, soldier, airman, or seaman would want a former death row inmate next to them in battle.
