You can't make it go away completely, but you can make it less noticeable. Run your tap all the way on hot until the water is steaming. Then soak a washcloth in the steaming water. Wring it out until most of the water is gone but the cloth is still damp and hot, then tip your head back and let the cloth sit on your face. It should be warm enough to make the skin on your face red but not burn you. Make sure the cloth is touching the zit but don't press it too hard against the zit or it will break. Leave it there until the cloth becomes cold. It should make the swelling go down a bit. Repeat the process one or two more times. If the zit is a whitehead, break it very gently, just enough to get the white stuff out, about 4 hours before your date and put a tiny piece of tissue paper over it to stop the bleeding. It will still be red, but less noticeable than a whitehead. If it's just red, just leave it alone. Whatever you do, don't be self-conscious about it. Just forget about it and act like it isn't there. A confident, funny personality will trump one tiny little zit any day.

This is what I do and I have little to no scaring:
(WASH YOUR HANDS)
1. Find the hair folicle that is infected if possible and tweeze out the hair. This should release the bacterial infection for removal. Otherwise, you will want to find the pore you need to open because it is clogged, which is why the bacteria and hormones managed to not be excreted by the pore. Some say to use a needle to open a pinhole, but I just use brute force and squeeze it.
2. I squeeze GENTLY to remove the puss and then use hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball to initially clean the wound until no more fizzing.
3. Then use rubbing alcohol (hurts, but it's an astringent) on a cotton ball or swab. Last, but not least, use antibiotic ointment to reduce the chance of infection. If you want to go overboard, I suppose you can use a bandaid on top of that, but I never do and the rest goes away overnight.
As for just never touching it, I notice that my face today is relatively clear while the face of my friend - the son of a nurse - has huge pocmarks all over from allowing the bacteria to eat away his flesh uncontested. This is just one (of quite a few) areas where folk medicine makes far more sense than today's medical theories... Reminds me of the garbage antibiotic ointment that never healed my wisdom teeth removal wounds in month (good God did that ever hurt!) that my grandmother's advice (rinse with salt water) healed in less than a week with no supposed abscesses. Stupid doctors...
ps. If all else fails, definitely go with Thom's paper bag and a Sharpie solution. Gotta love a date with a sense of humor that can make fun of herself!

put some toothpaste on it a couple times a day, it will make the zit less red, and will dry it up faster. it should be a little less noticeable by tomorrow. if it is still noticeable tomorrow, then the only thing you can do is to cover it up with a good concealer or foundation. whatever you do, DONT POP IT! popping it only works if you are not in a rush and dont mind it being red for a few days, but since you are DONT POP IT! you can also try using a facial scrub with sylicilic acid which helps clean it out.
good luck with your zit and with your date!

I use this Tea Tree Oil Blemish Stick, not just Tea Tree Oil. It's used for treating blemises, bug bites, and other skin irritants. Trader Joe's sells it. It's a little gourmet grocery store. Apply it 3-4 times per day. It'll help to get the swelling down. My husband had a blemish starting on his nose. He used it and the next day, the redness was gone. It's an awesome product.

A warm-to-hot smooth washcloth compress will speed oil gland draining... just keep it clean and not too hot that it burns. Light pressure on the spot will work after a while. Afterwards use an antiseptic cleanser to sterilize the area.

Preparation H may help reduce the swelling. As for redness, I read in a beauty book that you can put eye redness relief drops (like Visine) on them. Use concealer.

Maybe try something to dry it out. Pop it, then wash it, then put something like peroxide on [well I guess in] it then put some drying out medicine....THats what I usually do. And with luck, it may be ok enough that you can cover it up by tomorrow! lol good luck and I hope everything works out!
