Why should UK taxpayers subsidise foreign nationals' education? Do African countries subsidise foreigners' education? I seriously doubt it.

Once again, Lanre, your spelling and grammar are appalling. But look - the parents of the UK student are heavily subsidising his/her education through their taxes. Why should they also have to subsidise a foreign student whose parents have not contributed to the UK Exchequer and the cost of education? £1100 is nowhere near the actual cost of educating an undergraduate. It is perfectly fair - I was a foreign doctoral student in the UK, and did not complain about the higher fees.

Hey up Lanre, i was in the same postion as you 13yrs ago. I thought it was unfair, but my situation makes me feel exornorated. I worked hard to prove a point coming from africa and today i have managed to command the salary i want by means of working from my laptop. Most of my collegues are still paying off thier debt and having sad jobs, as they found it too easy.

Work hard and try to justify the feesby getting a decent job. Good luck

Taxes pay for the rest of the tuition costs, so I do think it is fair, as my parents have inadvertantly already paid for my education .... but it's going up this coming academic year to £3000 per year. I think it's outrageous as top-up fees will consolidate socio-economic groups in the UK... working class kids don't want to be £25,000 worth of debt at the end so they won't go to uni...... Thumbs to Mr Blair and his cronies... socialist my @rse.....
