History is cruel when it comes to telling the stories of African Americans who have been overlooked. Tell me, who invented the refrigerator, who was the creator of the clothes dryer? And I bet you don't know who invented the elevator or even the electric lamp. When you find out... will you stop using these appliances?re from Black African Americans. electric lamp.

Well, you may not have heard of Dr. Mark Dean. And you aren't alone. Almost everything in your life has been affected by his work. See, Dr. Mark Dean is a Ph.D. from Stanford University. He is in the National Hall of Inventors. He has more than 30 patents pending. He is a V.P. with IBM. Oh, yeah. And he is also the architect of the modern-day personal computer. Dr. Dean holds three of the original nine patents on the computer that all PCs are based upon. And, Dr. Mark Dean is an African American. So how can we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the IBM personal comp. w/out reading or hearing a single word about him? Given all of the pressure mass media are under about negative portrayals of African Americans on television and in print, you would think it would be a slam dunk to highlight Dr. Dean. We have managed to miss the shot. History is cruel when it comes to acknowledging African Americans. Dr. Dean is African American. That's why I asked the question. Now I'm considered racist?

this kind of question is the reason there is so much strife between races hey it's 2006 get over it and join society you can't have it both ways your either American or you're African, and if you're African when was the last time you were in Africa? Who cares who invented what if it works use it if it don't sell it at Wal*Mart there's always a redneck that'll buy it , especially if you put a nascar logo or a martha stewart tag on it. Forget trying to be seperate and join the rest of us against the ignorant ones.

The cotton gin is always credited to Eli Whitney, but it was invented by African American slaves. Think about it, the slaves were the ones doing the actual work, so they came up with the majority of farming inventions.
