My soon to be husband will be 52 in November. He is alot older than me and has two grown children. He had a visectomy because he said after his divorce, he did not think he would meet anyone else that wanted children or did not have any as myself. Besides trying to reverse his surgery, is there any other way. Maybe artificial insemination. Or can that only be done if you have not had a visectomy?

No he is not really thrilled at the thought of another child but I think he is being selfish because he already has 2 kids, a boy 24 and a girl 22. He would though, I believe for me, do it, (try to have another child) to make me happy.

Also I kind of did not want to go with adoption as I want a baby of my own, you know, one that came from me.

Are you sure you want to have a baby? Does he? You do realize that more than likely you will be raising it alone because of the age difference.

He can have the surgery reversed, but it cost more then it was to preform the surgery. There is another way tho, he can have injections in to his sake before it reaches his visectomy area, but it is very painful and risky. Keep in mind if he has been shooting blanks for so long his sprem count may be very low, and you still may not be able to after all the pain. I know you want you our look into adoptions or a seraget father. Good Luck.

He can have a reversal done or you can go to a sperm bank and have a baby that way. Does he have any kids? maybe if he has a great relationship with you and his son, you could use his son as a donor...but you have to be aware of the good and bad of this type of agreement. Maybe he has a younger brother who could be a donor...might be easier than his son being a donor. You need to talk to your husband and decide just what to do, and exactly if he wants to start a 2nd family...Good luck.

NO! No baby for you!

Seriously though, a vasectomy is supposedly reversible, although the success rate is not fantastic, so I suppose I can understand why you're avoiding that route... I don't see anything about your other options on the Wiki though... Perhaps there is the possibility of an experimental extraction of sperm??

Honey age is only a number! My aunt and uncle had two children, he was 53 before he ever got married, and she got her tubes reversed so they could have children! It is possible, go to your doctor tell them your situation, they will have to check his sperm count! Also if you and him want to go as far as adopting, take foster parenting classes offered through your local Department of Human Services, and adoption is thousands of dollars cheaper! Good luck to you both! By the way my man is 20 yrs older than me, I understand you!

I think there is maybe a 10% chance of getting pregnant after your spouse has a viseectomy, and thats only if the was a problem with the viseectomy after they to that they test it to see if it worked. The only way you can have a baby is to go to a sperm donor.

I had 3 beautiful, happy, healthy, bouncing baby boys are my ex had a vasectomy. It is possible. Get him to check his sperm count. Then you could do a reversal.
